After finally getting settled in here in Curacao and a long awaited first trip out fishing, we had a fun first day here. The morning hours showed some action with tunas in the 15-25 pound class and we boated 4. We even managed to catch a triple header of some 15-20 pound class Mahi as well. Then it went quiet for a bit as we started looking around more for some billfish.
Mid day we had a sailfish come up on the left teaser and teaser it up for a beautiful bait and switch. As that was jumping I was letting out that same teaser as the first sail never got the bait and getting ready to go for a double header, but it was a mere matter of seconds before another sailfish came in hard on the same teaser and we switched that one to hook the double header. After some awesome jumps we managed to release both sailfish.
Shortly after we had a white marlin crash our right flat line but never came tight, but luckily it faded to the right long rigger and we got hooked up there on a fish downsea mini chugger and ballyhoo. The fish went crazy and after about 15 minutes we got a clean release. Fun day 1 for 2023!
