We started our trip here in the Bahamas fishing Diana Bank on May 5 (Full Moon) in blue 83 degree water. We saw some birds and tiny tunas on top but nothing out of that. We worked the area more and just for the heck of it we pulled a lure on one short rigger. A blue marlin skyes out on the lure, totally missed it and went away. Ouch. We decided to bottom fish on top of the bank mid day but even that was kind of slow with just some nice size rock hinds to show for it. We got back on the troll and caught a Mahi and that was it. We ran in and anchored out in Crooked for the night.
May 6 we ran down to Castle Rock and right away had a blue marlin strip on the short rigger lure again but didn't come tight. Two times too many for me so the lure went away. We trolled around in what seemed like very lifeless water, so I made the decision to make a move up to Bird Rock. We trolled there for the afternoon and had a tuna get eaten by a shark and a blue marlin on the left teaser that ended up not switching and then piling on and completely missing the long rigger and went away. Tough start but plenty of days ahead to make up for it.
